KEEP THOSE BLUE MONDAYS AWAY!

Today is Monday and as the saying goes it’s a “Blue Monday”. Well, not really but it’s rainy with dull gray skies. You have probably heard before that colors affect mood and some studies indicate there is a physiological link. As summer months turn into fall and winter you may want to keep an upbeat attitude by perking up your home interior with some vibrant colors.

Homeowners aren’t hesitating to use bold colors as they renovate and decorate. There are literally hundreds of color choices and designs to choose from. Material choices are Paint, Wallpaper and Tile. Note that the color Blue is known as being peaceful and calming, Red with energy and action and Green with a refreshing, rejuvenating feeling.

Here are some suggestions:

Paint Colors: In living or family rooms use warm colors such as reds and yellows. For a feeling of calmness and serenity in bedrooms use blues or greens. You can use one color on one wall and a different color on the others. This adds an accent wall and makes a design statement. Lighter complementary colors make the room seem larger. A complementary color can add dimension and depth.

Wallpaper: Offers the advantage of multiple colors in a single pattern. This gives you more options when you choose furnishings and accent pieces. Dark colors or dense patterns seem confining in smaller rooms so obtain a sample to see how it looks in the room before you buy.

Tile: Usually associated with the bathroom or kitchen has become more popular for introducing color in other rooms. Patterned tiles can be effective to complement dining or transitional rooms.

It's amazing how a little color change can make a big difference in a room's appearance and your attitude too. Keep those blues away during the coming colder days and months ahead by changing color and materials in your home.
